With its lifelike appearance and flexible posture, dinosaur costume products “resurrection” the ancient overlord dinosaurs on the stage. They are very popular among the audience, and dinosaur costumes have also become a very common marketing prop. The dinosaur costume products manufactured by Kawah Dinosaur are wearable dinosaur-style performance costumes. They are characterized by internal manual control (the performer’s height range is between 1.6-1.9 meters), and are equipped with internal cameras, displays, vent-holes, etc. Each movable part has a transmission device, making it easy to control. Now we will introduce in detail the difference between the two most important processes for the skin of dinosaur costume products.
· Traditional ironing and skin grafting process
The steps of the traditional ironing and skin grafting process are: first, after artist shapes the sponge (cutting the sponge into the outline of a dinosaur), use an electric soldering iron to outline and textures on the skin, and then use silicone to glue the core spun spandex to the surface of the dinosaur skin to increase the skin’s stretch-ability, then apply the silicone gel evenly on the skin, and wait until the glue is completely dry for artistic coloring.
· Advantages:
Dinosaur skin can be shaped into any texture or pattern, making the appearance of the dinosaur more diverse. At the same time, it has strong resistance to wind, rain and aging, and there are no restrictions on the use environment.
· Disadvantages:
Heavy weight, generally about 35kg-40kg.
· Enhanced knitted skin technology
We are constantly trying new materials, among which reinforced knitted fabrics can replace the traditional ironing and skin grafting process. The thickness of the core spun spandex is about 0.2mm, while the thickness of the reinforced knitted fabric is about 1.2mm, which is 6 times thicker than the traditional process. It has higher wear resistance and stretch-ability. Also, the texture is clearer, every part of the skin has shading, the scales of the dinosaur’s epidermis are also more intuitive, with a stronger visual effect.
· Advantages:
Light weight, generally only about 18kg, making it more convenient and flexible for performers to operate. In addition, the texture of dinosaur skin is also clearer.
· Disadvantages:
The ability to resist wind, rain and aging is not as strong as the traditional skin grafting process, and is more suitable for indoor use.
The prices of these two skin processes are not much different, each has its own advantages and disadvantages, and there is no good or bad distinction. If you have questions about this, please contact us and we will help you choose the most suitable skin process.
